On the way from Biloxi to Lufkin we stopped in Rayne, LA. Just north of I-10 is a restaurant called Chef Roy's that we like to stop at when we travel out west. Here is the low down on this place. Basically you have really good french/cajun cooking without a lot of touristy hype. The head chef Benoit Morel took over Chef Roy's for Roy Lyon's in 2005.

We enjoyed the Crab White Like and the Crawfish Etouffee. I would go on further about the food but I have a more interesting story to tell. We were seated next to another couple in a small window area of the dining room. The couple left shortly before we did, and when we met up with them in the lobby they asked us where we were from. When we told them Orlando, the gentleman shared with us that his brother lived in Orlando. As he described him, this person had many similarities to my Uncle Lloyd Castille. My curiosity pushed me to ask the name of this brother who lived in Orlando, and the next thing I knew I was talking to my Uncle Lloyd's older brother Harold Castille Jr. Rayne, LA is a small town, population 7,000+, but it was still quite a surprise to run into a "familiar" face as we were passing through for lunch.

After catching up with Uncle Harold for a bit longer we left in search of Louisiana Boudin. Our search lead us to Boudin King in Jennings, LA. This place was pretty entertaining in addition to having tasty Boudin, fried chicken, and for those who dare, fresh gizzards.

The taxidermy section of the restaurant made for some fun photos. See below for more.

Next we'll have some quick pics fro Lufkin and then we'll be in San Antonio at the Riverwalk.
