The last two days I have spent some time to explore downtown of Montreal. On Thursday Liliana showed me around. We took the bus from St. Leonard to the Metro Station in Langelier from where we headed into the city centre. Our first visit was at the tourist information center where we gathered some ideas and collected a city map.
Very impressive is the huge underground Mall System. Because of the heavy winters the shops are all built underground and are connected with each other. You can easely walk several kilometers underground without ever having to get outside.
After grabing a lunch at a food court we headed to Vieux Port, the old port of Montreal. It is a famous tourist spot now with a market and several restaurants. Right next to Vieux Port is Vieux Ville, the old town of Montreal.
Our next destination was China Town. Unfortunately it began to rain so we ended up exploring different chinese stores where we took shelter. Once the weather lightened up again we went back to the Metro Station and headed back home again as it was already evening. Time passes by so quickly.
Today I went to town on my own as Liliana didn't feel to well. My first stop was at the Olympic Park where I enjoyed the spectacular view from the Observatory. You could see the Skyline of Montreal and had a good view at the botanical garden situated right next to the Olympic Park.
I continued back to the city centre and went window shopping. Since the weather was better than yesterday I was able to take some good pictures from Downtown.
In the late afternoon it started to rain again so I decided to return back to St. Leonard where Liliana has already prepared an excellent Mexican dinner for us.
