I drove almost 700 miles today!!! I started off leaving Black River Falls around 7am and it was raining the whole time out of Wisconsin. I took the highway south to Madison and then continued on into Illinois. By the time I got here it had stopped raining and the sun was shining! I kept going and took the highway towards Indianapolis. I could see Chicago in the far away distance! I still would love for Josh and I to go to Chicago since we've never been. Even though today involved a lot of driving, it didn't bother me much. I like driving.

From Chicago to Indianapolis was pretty boring though. Lots of corn fields and SO many tolls! It took me about 8 hours to get here but Indianapolis is pretty cool. There are tons of memorials and monuments. In the middle of town there is the Soldiers and Sailors Monument. It's a pretty cool area because the monument is in the middle and the road goes in a circle around it. I parked on the street and the meter was pretty cheap. I walked up onto the monument and from different angles you can see down the cross streets. At one angle you got a really cool view of the capitol building. There was another cool monument that reminded me of "The Mall" in DC. There's the American Legion on one side, the Veterans memorial plaza in the middle (looks like the Washington Monument) and then the Indiana War Memorial on the other side. Overall I liked Indianapolis but it was CRAZY HOT!!!! I was sweating to death. They were going through a drought at the time so everything was dried up and brown and none of the fountains had water in them.

I continued on to Louisville, Kentucky. I've never been to KY so it was one of those states that I wanted to cross off my list. It only took 2 hours from Indianapolis. I went by Churchill Downs and drove through some weird neighborhoods to get there. There was a nice historic neighborhood with lovely Victorian homes. I also tried to go by the abandoned Sanatorium but the gates were locked. I didn't really want to sneak up in there by myself just to get some pictures. Who knows what could happen (American Horror Story Season 2!!). There was a huge thunderstorm that was starting to roll through and I wanted to go to Frankfort and Lexington but I didn't have enough time. So I decided to make my way to Cincinnati which is where I was staying for the night. Almost home!
