I got up super early this morning and the stupid motel office didn't open until 7am! I didn't want to waste any time, so I decided to drive into Madison and then come back to the motel to check out later. Madison is a cute area, not as big as I thought it would be. It has a great capitol building!!! Very pretty and it was still early so there wasn't much traffic and I found a parking space right in front. I headed back to the motel to check out and then made my way towards Minnesota. I stopped at Devil's Lake State Park. I paid $10 for a parking pass but I only stayed about 20 minutes. In all honesty I could've just not paid. When you drive down to the park, the road is very windy. You have to actually park and walk into the office to pay and the only way they know you don't have a pass is if you park and leave your car for awhile. I was only taking a few photos so I could've just done without the pass. Anyway, it was a nice lake but it wasn't what I was expecting. The pamphlet I got made it seem like it was a lake surrounded by huge bluffs on three sides. It was nice, but not amazing. While I was there I witnessed two ladies get into an argument over their dogs (the one lady's dog was off leash and ran after the other dog). It was pretty hilarious.

I left here and headed toward The Dells. This area has the largest and most water parks in the country! However, it's very commercialized and reminds me a little of the Canadian side of Niagara Falls. You can take a boat ride to actually see The Dells (rock formations on the river). After I left here
I drove to Eau Claire. There wasn't anything here. I wanted to go by the Leinenkugel beer factory in Chippewa Falls but I didn't have enough time.

I passed into Minnesota and stopped in Saint Paul. It is a really nice city and is literally right next to Minneapolis....they could almost be the same city. I went by the Cathedral of Saint Paul. It is huge!!! Such beautiful architecture. I went by the capitol building too which was really nice and because it was after rush hour, there were meter spaces available on the street. I drove over to Minneapolis which is kind of a dumpier version of Saint Paul but it's still cool. It started to rain a little so I hurried to the sculpture garden with the spoon and cherry! I then headed to Saint Mary Cathedral which was beautiful. Then I stopped by the Mall of America! It really was a cool mall. There's an amusement park inside and every store you can possibly think of! I almost didn't want to leave! But I had to start making my way back home. I had driven from Virginia, through Ohio, up through Michigan and the UP, over to Wisconsin, then to Minnesota all in 8 days!!! I'm a road warrior but I was definitely feeling a little homesick. So I decided to start heading back home. I still had some stops to make on the way. I was so tired that I made it back into Wisconsin but I  stopped in Black River Falls to sleep.
