I got up early today and drove into Cleveland. I went by the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame (obviously it wasn't open yet because it was 7am). But I took some pictures outside, saw Johnny Cash's original tour bus, and the guitar statues that are in front of the museum. It's right on the water, so there were nice views of that as well. Cleveland reminds me a little of Baltimore the way the city is set up and being on the harbor. I also went by Wade Lagoon which is near a few of Cleveland's museums. I loved this area! It has a huge pond with these gorgeous statues around it.

I left here and drove to Toledo. A little ghetto, so I drove around a bit but there wasn't much to see. I saw a really beautiful church, Saint Patrick's Cathedral, took a few pictures, and then headed towards Michigan.

I have arrived in Michigan!!! I first stopped in Lansing. It's not a very big city for being the capitol of Michigan. The capitol building is very nice and I even saw a cute little baby bird sitting on one of the statues.

I made my way to Frankenmuth, Michigan. This place is a total tourist trap but it's cute and worth stopping at. Everything is decked out German style. There are numerous shops that line the main street and most of them are called "Haus". It was super duper hot outside today, over 100 degrees!!! I walked around here a little bit and then went by another huge tourist trap - Bronner's Christmas store. It's the biggest Christmas store in the world!!! It literally looks like Christmas just threwup all over this place. There are lights, santa claus statues, bells, plastic reindeer,  EVERYWHERE.

As I made my way to the "thumb" of Michigan, there was a huge rainstorm coming in. I was driving down these weird straight roads that had corn fields on both sides, and they seriously just kept going straight for MILES. It was almost like I was in Iowa or something. The wind started whipping around and I honestly thought I was driving into the path of a tornado! There were even 2 deer that jumped out of the corn field right in front of my car!!! So I made a change of plans. I wanted to go to the east side of the state to see a few lighthouses, but there was no way I was going to drive straight into this storm in my little economy car. So I headed towards Bay City and got a few pictures before the storm came that way, then headed up to Gaylord. I stayed in America's Best Value Inn - which was a total DUMP and overpriced! But, Alpenfest is tomorrow!!
