The busride from El Chalten to El Calafate took around 4 hours - one definite sign, that it was a bus full of people coming from trecking and mountainclimbing was this: In the Bus I met two girls (Linda and Christina) who were staying at the America del Sur Hostel and since it was already the top pick of my guide I gladly took the offer of going with them by cab. The Hostel is situated above El Calafate and through its huge windows you have an amazing view over El Calafate and the Lago Argentino that lies behind it.
Too bad it was booked out :( ... - the stuff immediatly offered to help me find another hostel, but also offered that I could sleep in the chill out area for half price - since it was already after 22:00 I decided to take this offer and luckily there was a cancellation and I got a bed after all.

Next morning meant getting up early since I had to be in town at 7:00 to start the tour to several glaciers and icebergsstudded Lago Argentino. The lake has an incredible 1500 km2 of surface area (3 times Bodensee) ...

While preparing my sandwiches around 6 the receptionist on nightshift came up to me and offered to wrap my sandwiches and if I wanted some breakfast :) (never had that happen to me in a hostel) - so I gladly took that offer and when I had my things packed I had a nice little packet of sandwiches waiting for me ...

As usual in South America I was waiting till 7.45 for the bus to pick me up. The weather wasn't particularly good - raining from time to time, quite windy and completely cloudy ...

The next day I took the three glacier tour with Fernandez Campbell to the glaciers Upsala, Spegazzini and Onelli. After an hour busride I arrived at the national Park and boarded a huge catamaran that was going to sail us around that day.

Despite the weather conditions it was quite an amazing trip because through the gray surroundings the amazing colours of the icebergs were even more impressing. On the other side though the glaciers
were partly hardly visible ... - Because icebergs blocked our way we weren't able to get to the Upsala glacier (the biggest one) what happens quite often we were told ...

Before suspicion arises - nothing photoshoped - no colour added - all natural :)

The night I had a great all you can eat BBQ at the hostel where I had some great talks with some people from all over the world (you really have everything there - from the 40+ year old who quit his job to travel over the stock market analyst who enjoys his 2.5 weeks off to the israeli who just finished military service or the high school grad who takes a year off ...)

Next day I had the flight with LADE to Ushuaia (Friday the 13th - hopefully not a bad sign :))
