The promised cycling paradise didn't disappoint today. It’s a shame that I’m writing this one week on because today was a special day. I had taken it easy on all the hills in the morning and the climb up to the lunch stop, which had looked very high, long and hot, was relatively okay, though it was all of the aforementioned things.
Some local kids at the top were good entertainment and I set off to enjoy a great, albeit windy descent and then more climbing on a route that meant you could always see where you’d come from and where you were going, and it was pretty impressive.
Steep mountainsides with roads carved along them, and down below banks of clouds that you could look over. At one point I was grinning from ear to ear. And it wasn’t because I’d just descended at 90Kmph, which is what my grins are usually reserved for. It was one of those moments when you are thrilled and overjoyed at being exactly where you are and doing exactly what you are doing.
I finally arrived in Chunchi having taken lots of stops and photos, having seen only Nico and Ilse since lunch time and having had the best day of the tour so far.
Chips, eggs, salad and steak, washed down with a large 'Pilsener’ finished off the day, and all for 4 dollars!

Where were you Rachel while Stephen was working away in the saddle? The scenery looked great.
