After a quick breakfast we headed along the river Loire through Montsoreau and
Candes-Saint-Martin . Even though we drove some of this road yesterday I have
to say it is stunningly beautiful. All the buildings built into the rock wall
are different all right. From here we continued on to Chinon a little town
along the river Indre with the customary castle on top of the hill overlooking
everything. The town is quite small even the main roads are only wide enough to
take one car. They have a lift built into the side off the hill to get you up
to the castle. Saves walking all those stairs (very thoughtful). From here we
drove on to Loches where we are staying for 2 nights. Loches seems to have it
all. Chateau, churches, fortified walls, an old mill and a very nice Hotel de
Ville. We did most of the sightseeing before it started raining quite heavily. The
B&B where we are staying is about 10K's outside of Loches and is run by an
old couple. He is 82 and she is 76 they do all the cleaning and maintenance themselves. The whole interior of the house is wallpapered even the inside of the kitchen door. It looks real Frenchy and from
the outside it has that Manor house look. I just went to get something from the
car and there were 3 squirrels running up the side of the house playing in the
rain
