After breakfast we got in the car and drove all the way to Saumur about 180 K's away. It's fabulous when a road network is set up properly how easy it is to get around a major city. (Nantes)  One autobahn links with a bypass autobahn that connects with an other autobahn and you are at your destination before you know it. After arriving in Saumur we parked the car at the Sohotel and went exploring the town as we could not book in until 3 PM. We walk along the Loire and start with the Hotel de Ville built 1508 - 1527 with a white stone and grey slate roofs as seems to be traditional in this region. From here we climb a small hill to the chateau that overlooks the town and the river which has a nice stone bridge across it. From here we walk down into town. On the Saint Pierre square are some lovely old buildings where they used the post and beam construction instead of the white stone
After all that hard work we decided to have lunch but not at Flunch. We decided on a restaurant on the main street and were very happy with a great 3 course meal 1/2 litre of local red wine  and coffee
all for 32 Euro. By then it was time for us to go and book in. Our room is on the first floor has curtains
and overlooks the river Loire. And at night we get a great view (only if we leave the curtains open) of the stone bridge that's nicely lit up. We will be staying here for 2 nights as it is a good base to view some of the castles.

Hey you two, your route looks very circular?! Guess you are aware of that though. All sounds pretty good to me. And I like the blog format. Must look into it sometime. Cheers, Chris
