Monday, June 4th, 2007
Today I accidently woke up an hour earlier than I wanted to because I looked at my iPod that has the Texas time an hour earlier than Guatemala time.  I didn't realize this till I was eating breakfast, by then it was too late for me to go back to bed.  I walked to the plaza and took some field notes till the rest of my classmates arrived which was about thirty minutes I got there.
It was a long day once we all go to the plaza we had class at an internet café.  One of our professors (WA) gave us a stack of readings and syllabi for the courses we are taking during this summer the stack was about two inches thick!  He expects us to write like three papers a week on other things not related to our project; I actually think the amount of work is ridiculous.  My other professor, try to discuss this with him but he didn't seem to want to listen and actually raised his voice.  This old professor is simply stuck in his ways and by the way he's such a chauvinist.
The class was from 9am till about noon. We all had lunch together and then met with the professors to discuss our projects. I received some advice and now have more of focus for my project. I will be looking into why people use technology and why others don't. I will go into more detail one day... lol... I will also survey the town to see what type of technology is being use in different places, like the Municipal, the police station, or the Centro de Salud.
After this long day, I went to the internet café.  Then off to my home. It had been the latest I had ever walked home; it was beginning to get dark and actually a little scary, but I got home safe J
It is was about 7:30 pm and Graciela comes to my room after dinner and we talk.  I tell her, I'll teach you English and you teach me K'iche'. She says okay so I begin with simple things.  She asks if its okay if she arranges/organizes some things on the talbe I use as a desk.  She begins to stack my folders, books, mini tapes on top of each other by size.  She arranges the medications I have on the left side of the table.   She then proceeds to clear off my bed. She folds my clothes and puts all my clothes in my suit case.  She takes everything off my bed and fixes my bed. She arranges most of my shoes under the table (desk).  During all this time I am teaching her some English.  She rearranged everything she possibly could, in a manner she felt was more organized than what I had.
Actually today was HOT, and it didn't rain til about right now which is 9:57pm.  Well I'm going to head to bed, peace out homies J
