It was a cold bright sunny day but there was a definite chill of excitement in the air. The anticipation of finally driving the RV had come. As we entered the lot where our RV stood gleaming in the sun, we knew there was no turning back ... it was now a case of Man Vs Machine.

Could the Aussie maniac tame this incredibly large mechanical marvel and have it submit to our commands ... or would it be an unruly beast of ferocious power waiting to unleash its incredible desire to reduce us to a quivering chunk of fleshly protoplasm. As the sun shone on the beautiful extremities of its docile outer shell, I knew that within was a sleeping giant made up of 350HP of turbo charged might chaffing at the bit to be finally released after 5 years of sensible driving by its previous owner .... this incredible machine could detect that its new owner had all the symptoms’ of  a frustrated racing driver and with excitement it looked forward to showing just what it was capable of. As we entered the cockpit, we felt as though we were on a mission to Mars ... more buttons and gadgets than a space shuttle. We started the engines .... and with great exhilaration the big Cummins motor roared into action .... you could hear every moving part in the finally honed engine straining to be let out of its cage ... from the deep drone of the gudgeons to the melodic hum of each individual piston .... ready ... waiting ... and desiring to be put to the test of pinning us to our seats on our first maiden voyage.

Orlando has 48 million visitors a year and it was as if all of them had come out onto the roads to witness this inaugural experience .... was it going to be Man taming the Machine or Beast humbling the maniac. With foot firmly on the brake, my shaking finger inched towards the transmission drive button .... it wasn’t my intention to show my nerves, but already this 17 metre long 15 ton creature was showing itself to be a fiend and not a friend. As it slipped into gear .... I strained hard on the brakes to hold this giant back ... it was as if it was rearing up ... wanting to release its awesome power in one huge bolt of lightning .... Ruth held tight to the armrests ... knuckles whitened with fear ....  I inched the RV towards the exit gate .... released the brake .... What happened next is almost indescribable and totally unexpected .... all will be revealed in our next blog ... stay tuned.

ohmygosh, you stalled it on the way out of the parking lot! The beast was reduced to a kangaroo hopping, bone shaking, spine cracking, jaw breaking piece of metal embarassment. Best of luck at the next set of lights buddy!

Let me guess...you turned into oncoming traffic!
Turning out of a parking lot is when you will most likely turn onto the wrong side of the road. "Turn Right, Stay Right"
