Where I stayed
My flight to Washington was via Dallas Fort Worth. While I was there I rang my contact in the GAO in Washington, just to make sure that thigs were still fine for our Friday meeting. Yep they were.
Arrived at Reagan Washington Airport at around 6 pm and caught a taxi into town. I checked into the Hilton and found my room on the 8th floor overlooking the front of the hotel. The weather is overcast with occasional slight drizzle.
I grabbed a late dinner and some shut-eye so that I would be bright-eyed and bushy-tailed for my meeting.
I caught a taxi to the GAO on time. I passed through the security point like I suppose they have in all government builings these days and with Kate, who had been arranging things for me at this end we went up to the meeting room. Things went well. After we put an end to proceedings I left them all with some gifts and my thanks and I went back to the hotel.
It was a great opportunity to arrange my train to Baltimore on Sunday. I walked to the Metro at Dupont Circle and grabbed a train to Union Station. I found the Amtrack office and bought my tickets. Then I thought I'd walk back, going the scenic route via the Mall. I passed the Capitol Building, all of the great Museums, the Washington Monument and the White House. It took a while but it was a geat walk. I made it back to the hotel as they say, tired but happy.
