Greenboro is a relatively small town/city by comparison to Charlotte. This is where Ricky's niece, Nia spent her College years. Nia walked us through the grounds and into the Freshman's lobby with all its memorabilia. I was dissapointed not to see her school photo somewhere inside a glass cabinet. Middleton College is a private arts school for black girls and is the sister College to Moorecroft College where Martin Luther King was educated. Since graduating Nia has played semi professional basketball, worked in the corporate sector, returned to studies and is now completing her PhD in Gerentology.

We visited Sportsplex in Greensboro a large multicourt facility with 8 central basketball courts and around these, 4 synthetic turf soccer pitches, skating rink, finess centre and three volleyball courts, Subway Cafe and administration, change rooms and storage areas.
Sportsplex is the base for a Sports Academy and Ricky was keen to watch some of their training programs and meet the coaching coordinator.

A followup visit to talk about the Academy and a possible exchange or tour with the STARplex based Northern Region Sports Academy is planned for later today.

Dale found an original American 50's style Diner for breakfast just a short walk around the corner from the hotel. Ricky, Nia, Ramiah and Dale all tucked in to a traditional breakfast menu.
