Dale in panic mode finally found his lost passport at Sydney Customs. Jennie, Ricky and Ramiah were considering whether to leave him behind as the flight to LA was being specially held for us following a late connection from Adelaide. Lesson one always know where your passport is Dale!Atlanta is a wonderful city with lots of friendly people, clean streets, lovely weather and interesting places to see. The big surprise is how casual and slow the pace is. Perhaps this explains why Ricky is never in a rush!Ricky's family have been fantastic to meet and great with their hospitality. We have been chauffered all round and seen two excellent athlete development centres, Velocity Performance and The Hit Centre. The second has been affected by the financial crisis and looks like it may close as client numbers have dropped dramatically over the last 8 weeks. The scientific methods used in athlete assessment and performance at the second centre are very advanced and by employing only qualified exercise physiologists the centre had potential to really bring the health and fitness industry together. In addition to these visits I was particularly moved by a visit to the Martin Luther King memorial which clearly described the character of the man who changed significant systemic racial atttiudes through non violent demonstrations. The picture on the home page was taken at the World of Coke a Cola where we had some fun looking at the history and marketing behind this icon which commenced life in Atlanta. The same day we had a look behind thenews at the CNN News Room which is a hive of I.T. activity, journalists and breaking news deadlines. Not a place I would like to work!
