Today's first stop was in St. Andrews, which is the most gorgeous place ever! I think part of its beauty was that we were there early in the morning, and just the lighting made everything beautiful! The bus dropped some people off at the golf museum, but the rest of us non-golf fans were dropped off further away, at the ruins of an old Abbey. The grounds weren't open yet when we were there, so we took some pictures through the gates, and then walked along the seaside back to the golf museum. I'm a land-locked Saskatchewan girl, any time I get to be near the ocean I am beyond excited, and this was no exception. It was just unbelievably gorgeous, the whole walk! Sean ended up going for a random swim in the water... I wasn't THAT excited about being near the ocean. Haha.
Our lunch today was at this little ski lodge-esqe place called the Spittal of Glenshee. It was soup and sandwiches, nice and light for once! We made a few photostops after that, just so we could all get some good pictures of the Highlands.
We then stopped at the Glenlivet Whisky Distillery. This, for me, was more boring than anything. I'm not a drinker, especially whisky, so the whole tour thing was fairly meaningless for me. I tried the whisky at the end though, and that's what made me realize that whisky is not for me. Haha. I felt a bit sick the rest of the bus ride!
We got to our hotel at Strathpeffer, which was somewhat like the one in Shap, though in an actual town! Bridget had arranged a screening of Braveheart for us for 8pm that night, to get us ready to go to Stirling the next day. So we headed down for supper. My table of people was the first group in and seated for supper, and we were the last ones to leave, 2 hours later. Some people finished dessert before we got our main courses. It was just a little bit ridiculous. Bridget had warned us that they could be slow, but no one expected it to be THAT slow. As a result, we missed a good portion of the beginning of Braveheart, so we didn't bother watching the rest. Instead, a group of about 10 of us ended up having a room party up in Natalie and Lindsay's room, which happened to be about twice the size of anyone else's rooms in the hotel!
