Today was a pretty chill day overall... I met up with Bek and Alex for breakfast, we went to the Pancake Cafe, where I was surprised to get a crepe on my plate, as opposed to the pancakes I'm used to eating at home. It was wonderful nonetheless! After that, we went to the Contiki basement to buy our tickets to the London Eye. This was the most perfect day for it, beautiful weather, clear skies... A rarity in London, I think! We took the tube down there and went in. The little 4-D show they make you watch before the ride is a little cheesy, in my opinion, but that's just me. From there we headed to the line, which really didn't take that long to get through.
The London Eye itself was pretty cool. It was sort of boring after awhile, just because it moves so slowly and you're seeing the same things constantly for half an hour, but I felt it was way worth it. The Eye was my number one thing I wanted to do while in London, and I was pleased with it! We took lots of pictures of everything (I took more than necessary of Big Ben for some reason. I think I had about 20 pictures of it by the end of the trip, who knows why!), and after the ride we headed into the gift shop so Bek could buy a keychain for her insane collection.
Lunch was from a little vendor by the Eye, just hot dogs, while we people watched and just chilled in the sun!
After that, we took the tube back to the hotel, where we sat at the London Pub just doing nothing for about 3 hours. It was a wonderful waste of time before our Pre-Tour meeting with Contiki. We stopped down in the Contiki Basement a little while before the meeting and ran into Alex (the girl one) and Katelyn. Bek and I had talked to Alex on Facebook before the trip, so it was nice to see a new, albeit familiar face! We chatted with them for a bit then went back to the London Pub with them to kill the last bit of time before the meeting.
Our little gang walked into the meeting laughing our heads off because Katelyn tried some of Bek's vegemite, not expecting what she got, which I think was a good indicator of what the next 16 days would be like! The meeting was just general information, who your Tour Manager & Bus Driver were, where to sign in, what sheets to fill out, etc. Girl Alex and I found out we'd be roommates, which was a pleasant surprise, as well! After the meeting, we met up with Brent and Connor, who Bek and girl Alex and I had talked to on Facebook as well, then a group of about 8 or 10 of us went back to the London Pub for supper. We basically took over the place, bringing together a bunch of tables so we could all sit together. It was so much fun. After we ate, we sat & talked for awhile, and then we dispersed to our respective hotels to prepare for the early morning!
