So, woke up early again, after not much sleep to head to the Lake District! Most of the group did the water sports or high ropes course optionals in Keswick, but I was not one of them (I'm scared of heights and I felt it was too cold to be in the water!). Maria and Bek and I walked to a little stone circle a couple of minutes away from the sports centre. It was not nearly as thrilling as Stonehenge, of course, but we spend quite a long time admiring the sheep in the area, and trying to coax them into coming to us. It didn't work, but they were all so cute! I wanted to bring a little lamb home with me!
We just sat around until everyone finished up with their activities, then we headed to the town of Bowness-on-Windermere, Windermere being the largest lake in the UK. It's a gorgeous little town! I think everyone did the Lake Cruise optional, but only some of us braved being atop the boat. It was really cold again, especially because we were on the water, so most people sat below deck (where there happened to be a bar... hmm...). It was really pretty all around, but got to be somewhat boring after awhile. We couldn't hear the guide explaining what it was we were seeing, and really, it was a lot of trees and a lot of water.
After the cruise we got free time in the town for supper. A group of about 8 of us wandered uptown (the whole town is insanely hilly!) to a pub, where we found and extremely good deal for meals, 2 for 10! I had my first fish and chips here, which was fantastic! I'm not a fish fan, but I LOVED it here. We had planned on getting ice cream after supper, but everything was closed by the time we finished, which wasn't even 7pm yet! So we wandered around the lakeside for awhile, checking out a little arcade, where we found like, 9 year old kids gambling. It was rather strange.
Our hotel tonight was literally in the middle of nowhere. There is NOTHING around! But it's a quaint little place. After getting into our rooms, everyone met downstairs, listened to a really loud German band entertain some senior folks, then met for our trivia quiz game!
The quiz game was so much fun, we all got really competitive! The Raging Canucks (Maria, Alex, Katelyn & I) ended up tied for first place at the end! I don't recall winning anything, but it didn't matter! We had a great time. I think I cried from laughing multiple times, and my stomach hurt from laughing so hard!
