DAY -1

Leaving home was a tough one. My mom joked that Neel tried to lock me into my room so I wouldn't leave for the summer.. to be honest I almost did the same thing to myself. Luckily, I had Chris there to calm my nerves a little. It's funny how he was doing the same thing last summer, getting ready to go to Europe, and I was completely oblivious about the feelings that came with leaving for an extended time.

I had the perfect last night in Minnesota.  Neel, Chris and I walked the front 9 at Windsong. Of course I was terrible, but I had a few good shots and it was nice to enjoy the nature and my boys. After golfing, we went to Grandma and Grandpa's for a meal and to chat. The love was palpable.

(If you're wondering why parents aren't mentioned, they're travelling.. miss them!)

Coming home it was tough to tell the kiddos to go to bed.  Anika was lingering pretty late into the night and wasn't ready to leave me. It was great having a helping hand at packing though - especially one willing to run all over the house at every beckon and call.

DAY 1
So travel day! (5:00am) To be honest, I slept right until I heard Grandpa's car rolling down the driveway. I didn't have much time to get up and ready but there's not much to ready when you're about sit for the next 20 some hours.  I finished last minute packing, loaded the car and we were on the way. It was really sweet to have Neel and Anika want to come to the airport, but tricky when it came to the goodbyes.  Last summer it was the three of us just gooning around every day so this is going to be a change for us all.

Now to scalding tea.  I was about an hour early to the gate.. so I leisurely purchased my favorite decaf tea (Caribou Mint Verdana if anyone cares) and sat down to nap.  Of course I also chose to take the lid off the tea so it could cool and in the process spilled the beverage across my lap and legs.  Soaking wet pants - not the best idea for a full day and a half of travel. No worries though, the Minnesota store sells sweats.
