The next morning we left bright and early with the Shamrocker tour group. All 36 of us piled onto probably the nicest bus I'll be on while in Europe -- Danny, our tour guide, nicknamed it "Posh."
Our stop for the evening was Doolin all the way on the west end of the country!! We, of course, would be making several stops on the way...I just didn't think our first stop would be at a whiskey distillery! So at 10:00am we had a tour of Locke's Whiskey Distillery and had a tasting too.
After a lunch break at the distillery, we headed towards Clonmacnoise where we visited royal limestone tombs near Shannon. Nearly every castle/cathedral in Ireland is a religious monument or grave site today.
Next, we took a short stop to chase the "ferries and leprechauns" of Pol-na-Brone Dolmen, a very superstitious town. Early in the evening, we made it to Doolin, home of one of the most breathtaking natural formations I've ever seen -- the Cliffs of Moher. We really lucked out because the weather was clear enough to see the entire view. The pictures here really don't do justice.
We ate dinner and enjoyed live traditional Irish music at McGann's Pub. Although you can't see the video, the music was awesome!!
