Day 8 - Weather is foggy and very cool. I wear pants today and a jacket and everyone is dressed the same, some even are wearing heavy coats!

As we travel we are trying to get more efficient at what we have and what we take into the room at night. We find we are buying things to make our travels easier. I may need TWO part time jobs when I return!

First thing this morning we purchase a jump start, which is a power source that you can keep in your car to plug in laptops, phones, GPS, etc. This was a MUST as we travel. We also purchase a couple of water proof containers, another bag for our things, a ceramic coffee mug and a small holder for our water bottles.

The next thing we do is call a local Best Buy (one town away) and find out if they can put in a stereo in the new used car we have. Art has decided to keep the car I think, and the speakers are not working right. Luckily they have time and we take the car and have that done while we shop at REI, Bed Bath & Beyond and Target.. Now we can play our music on our Ipod, Pandora and we are very happy about that!!!

This leaves us just enough time to go to the Monterey Bay Aquarium which is downtown on Cannery Row, right on the ocean. The street is lined with small gift shops and restaurants and is a huge attraction here. I take a TON of pictures at the aquarium and so I will post them here. You will probably get tired of looking at all the pics, but I LOVE SEA ANIMALS, so I took a bunch!

We finish up at the aquarium around 5:30 and walk through some shops, getting coffee and a Bear Claw.

We eat dinner at a local place, Sea Harvest restaurant, great food. Well, once again we decide to stay in Monterey for the night. We are super tired from all the walking. We try another motel in a prettier part of town, down by the water. Once again we find that the motel has no air conditioning or coffee in lobby. A quick trip to the store gets my half and half (now I am happy).

You may notice we stay at a lot of Choice Hotels. We are Choice members and get a lof of free nights, so we stay in Choice Hotels a lot! We are paying for some nights and using our points for others.

Tomorrow we will hopefully make it to San Francisco, the last place we will explore before heading east.
