So, it is DAY 2 and we wake up in LA and need to find transportation. Art wakes up early to research the cars he had already located and to find out if they are still available. In the meantime, I called Avis and have the rental agency come pick us up. Soon we are zipping along in our Ford Fusion.

We head south toward Encinitas, down the Pacific Coast Highway, to look at the most promising of all the cars Art found. Beautiful coastline and beautiful weather, around 73 degrees. This is a awesome drive, going through towns like Huntington Beach and Laguna Beach to arrive in Encinitas. We were in bumper to bumper travel for 2 hours on the 5 (they do not say I-5 out here, but "THE" 5.) Finally we arrive at the car lot to checkout the car.

Well, long story short, we buy the car. It is a 1996 Toyota Camry, 89,000 miles, 5-speed and two door, garage kept it's entire life. Art loves it and says he is keeping it, NOT selling it. He is very relieved and feels confidant that this car will get us back across the US.

We find a nearby Seaside Market with terrific food that we purchase and sit outside watching the sunset go down over the  Pacific Ocean. Everyone is so friendly and we find ourselves talking to lots of people, all of them very interesting in hearing about our upcoming adventure.

We decide to drive inland that night, due to the cost of the hotels there on the ocean. So to end the day we drive both vehicles across a high, dark, mountain into Escondido, finally arriving at our hotel, happy that our day has been so wonderful.
