What a cool town!! the old city of carcassone is like a city stuck in old midevil times. its a town enclosed by tall walls and something you would see outta a movie. it was so surreal. and what better way to check out the old city then going to a wine tasting tour in the city. jess, this british girl i met at the hostel and i went and had a blast. you pay 5 euros, get a wine glass and 8 drink tickets. then your given a little map and find your way to the 8 regions of france in the old city and get 1 free glass of wine from that region. well 1/2 a glass of wine in some, more in another. we were definatly feeling the wine by the end of the day and were getting picked up by the hostel owner in a bit so had to make our way back to where she dropped us off. it was a great way to check out the old city and do a wine tasting tour in france. my as well kill two birds with one stone. anyways our hostel was about 20 minutes outside of carcassone in this cute little village. it was more of a campground hostel then anything. the owner built little huts outside in her back yard and there was 4 beds in each one. they were so cute and cottage like and the way she landscaped her backyard beautifully it was such a nice place to relax. and with the gorgeous weather there was when i was there we sat out in the sun and played some cards and chilled out. one night it was this one belgium girls birthday and jess and i bought a bottle of champagne at the wine tasting. we sat up pretty late drinking wine and champagne, it was great. we went on some walks in the countryside with hostel dog. i was sad when i had to leave but looking forward to san sebastian.
