We set off on our trek up the mountain much later than the 10am start we had planned....and at 1pm (and in the heat of the midday sun!- never a good idea) started climbing up the Platterklip Gorge route. This was recommended to us by one of the hostel owners and is one of the shortest and hardest routes as its so steep and this is no exaggeration!

John powered ahead and me, Simon and Belch went very slowly, partly due to how hot it was (with little water) and partly because we are so unfit now since Killi after all the recent eating! The views were amazing however and eventually we got into the shaded part where the gorge is, which was much cooler and made it slightly easier. When we reached the top (after 1 and a half hours) the views were incredible. We were able to walk around the top of it, taking photos from all angles- overlooking the 'V and A waterfront', 'Robben Island', beaches and the mountain peaks, known as the '12 Apostles'.

After lots of picture taking, we headed down on the cablecar (the only way to go!) with a calypo ice cream!
