G'day!

Well its sunday afternoon (4.30) and we have all just spent the weekend sizziling away by the lagoon in cairns, which is just by the harbour on the beach! The weather has been really nice for the last few days, its apparently very good weather for this time of year - around 28C today! Starting my PADI 5 day course tomorrow which will be great fun - I am really looking forward to it. I did 2 dives last week on a ay trip to the Reef to see if i enjoyed it and I loved it! I was a lil bit worried about the whole breathing thing at the start but once i had got used to it, it was amazing! Got 1 metre away from a shark!!! nearly screamed, but then realised i was underwater and if i did i would probably drown, so it wouldnt be the best idea!! I decided to do a second dive later on in the day which was realy cool as well - saw 'Nemo' (so cute!)

I went White Water Rafting on Grade 4 rapids last wednesday, which was great fun! Got some cool shots of us all rafting down the river, unfortunetly some random guy accidently kicked the disposable waterproof camera off the boat that we went on on thursday, so I have got copies of my mates pic's. I was not amused!! The rafting was so much fun, had a geat day of rafting with a BBQ luch on the side of the river. We we able to swim down part of the river where there were no rapids, which we all did, but the one thing that our guide "forgot" to mention was there are usually pythans and other snakes sunbathing on the rocks linning the river!!!! I was of course then terrified on falling into the water in case i was bitten by the snakes!! I wasnt though .... thank God!!

There is a group of us from the tour which are around cairns for the next few weeks so we have all been hanging out which has been fun, and two of the girls were staying in the same hostel as me (calypso Inn). Its a bit out of town but they run a free shuttle quite frequently into town which saves us walking or getting taxi's. I am changing hostels though tomoz night coz we have found an AMAZING hostel right in the centre of town called 'Gillagins' - a dorm of six contains your own proper bed (no bunkbeds!) with a lovely clean ensuite bathroom (that has marbel like floors), theres a TV area with loads of lil tv's with earphones so you can watch what you want not what everyone else wants to watch, and theres also a huge TV screen where i will no doubt be watching the odd wimbledon match! All for the same price that I pay where i am at the moment, which is a dump in comparison!

I watched the England Vs Swizerland football match the other night, which was great fun especially as we won! We were all out having a lil bar crawl in cairns and we came accoss this bar showning the match so we stayed there for the rest of the night to watch it! It began at 2am our time but we only managed to stay wake until half time coz we were nearly falling asleep we were so tired! (we had all been up since 5.30 am for the past 3 mornings of the tour!) I was as usual yelling at the TV! But this time no one could hear me so it was great - I have a really sore throut now though coz of it (along with a cold and cough) so i have a croaky voice so have been stocking up on medicen for the last few days! Hope it will clear up for my diving 2moz though!

Cooked last night for the first time in 5 and a half weeks which was strange - felt very wierd! We are all still alive though so no food posioning....yet.........!

Hows things back in the UK? The Weather still good? It seems to be hotter at home than here from what everyone has been saying?
