We set off with Jacy's family to Fusing, a favorite retreat of Chang-Kai Shek. We ascended to the central mountains of Taiwan. The mountains are covered in bamboo and palm trees with winding roads threading between small towns and villages. The town of Fusing specializes in sweet thin-skinned white peaches and we bought several (very expensive) peaches to enjoy. They were amazingly sweet and tasty. The larger they are, the harder they are to grow. The growers told us that the season had too little rain so the skins were thicker than usual, but they tasted great to us. Eating them was quite difficult and you ended up taking a bath in Peach juice.
We also visited Jacy's paternal grandparents the following day and saw a photographic exhibit in the Sun Yat-Sen memorial hall before returning home.
