During the train ride between Venice and Geneva, we passed through a snowstorm in northern Italy. For a few dozen miles, we rode through the pretty snow-covered Italian countryside. The snow ended in Milan after covering the city in slush.

We did not go far beyond the train station, as our connection departed just three hours after our arrival. Lugging 20 kilos of backpacks around a slushy Milan was not our idea of fun, so we camped out in a bar (coffee shop) across the street from the rail station and worked on our journals and ledgers.
