Today we set off for London. We were on an Easyjet flight which I think is worse than our Jetstar. Boarding passes but no seat alloctions. You need to have your boarding pass printed before you get there, otherwise there is a penalty cost. You get the idea. So we decided to get to the airport early. Arrived at about 10.15 for a 12.20 flight. The queue for checking in was very long so we waited and waited. We had a weight allowance of 43kg. Having been warned that if our bags weighed more than our weight allowance we would be slugged for 50 pounds for every kilogram over unless we purchased extra weight allowance on line, we decided to purchase (at great expense, 50 euros) some extra kilogram allowance, we now had 52kg but were still worried that we might exceed it because we had bought some wine and our bags had weighed roughly 48kg at Sydney. We nervously waited but amazingly somehow we came in at 43.5kg. 0.5 kg over our original allowance!

We then basically went into the terminal and queued up to get on the plane to ensure that we would get decent seats and overhead space. From here the flight was uneventful and we landed pretty much on time at Gatwick. Next we went to immigration where we spent an hour in the queue! Finally we had to queue up at the railway station to buy two tickets to Clapham Junction, where fortunately we were met by our friends the Jelliffes and we haven't had to queue since.

We left the hotel in Valencia at about 9.45am for a two hour flight and got to Clapham at about 4.00pm! The weather was stunning, clear skies and very warm. We made a quick dash on the tube into the city for a bit of London culture. We wandered along the South Bank. The place was so alive, very crowded with people, street theatre, market stalls. There was a fabulous atmosphere, probably a hangover from the Olympics.

Back to the Jelliffe's. Two of our other HK friends (Jackie and Brian) arrived for dinner and we had a great night catching up. Finally hit the sack at about 11.30. No photos today as the camera didn't make it out of the suitcase.
