Before setting off for Shanghai, Sherry takes us to visit the silk factory where we tour the silk worms, cocoons, quilt making, shops, and see a fashion show. Of course the exit of the tour is through a large silk shop. The prices are quite high compared to the local markets. The retrieval of the silk threads from the cocoons is quite fascinating, as well as the spinning and weaving.
We have driven 5 hours to arrive at Huangzhou, a small city of 6.5 million. We are staying at the Ramada Huangzhou, a 4 store hotel, with Western menus and Western Breakfast! Yeah! We dive into the western menu, and Salmon, Hamburgers, and Lasagne never tasted so good. This hotel is a treat, with very large flat screen TV on the wall. Note on Chinese hotels; all are supplied with boxed toothbrushes and toothpaste, packaged combs, tea kettles, green tea and pots, terry robes, and a pair of slippers for each guest. This is all free, but don't indulge in the other extras which there is liquor, food, noodle bowls, chocolate bars, snacks, luxury body treats, all will be charged to you at exorbitant prices.
