It's hard to complain about weather this trip when we have one perfect day after another. In general we have had lots of sun and T-shirt temperatures. But now that we have arrived in the countryside, the forecast calls for 2-3 days of rain, cold, and overcast skies. Well, we brought warm clothes and we have a beautiful apartment where we can hang out.
Monday actually began with a bit of sun. We seized the moment and headed out for a walk. We quickly discovered that the trails were wet and seriously muddy from the overnight rain, so we moved our walking to the roads. San Vincenti is a tiny town (really just a grouping of buildings) at the top of our road. From there we walked along the ridge and visited a small cemetery.
I promised Kaela a swim after our walk. Yes, the water was just as frigid as the day before, but it is a beautiful pool to swim in. Kaela didn’t last long but I was determined to swim laps for 10-minutes.
We prepared a lunch of cured meats, cheeses, tomatoes, olives, and good bread with good olive oil. Rain kept us inside but after lunch it stopped and we played scrabble and read books on the patio. This area is known for wild boar and I got the idea to braise some boar and prepare it with some wide noodles. So we headed out late afternoon to explore some more local towns and find a supermercato. We did not realize that all stores would be closed on Sundays in these small towns. So after exploring the area a bit we drove home and prepared a simple pasta dinner.
All in all it was a slow and rainy day. We’ll pray for better weather and enjoy the beautiful apartment and each other’s company.

I love the picture of Kaela with the umbrella and have shared it with lots of friends and family members.
Ditto re the photo of K with the umbrella in the rain. Great shot. Your mom did share the photo and the news of the earthquake's having hit so close to where you were. Fingers crossed here on the future of the place in which you stayed. Continued safe travels to you guys!
