We just received some supplies to bring to the New Hope Foundation just outside Beijing. They care for abandoned babies with medical needs or deformities.  Our friend Abby connected us with this organization and we learned that they need travelers to help bring supplies.  International shipping is quite expensive, but packing some things in a spare suitcase works quite well.  We just received three cases of a very special formula and three bags of baby clothes.  We are bringing an extra duffle bag so we can bring some souvenirs back home and now we will fill this duffle with the supplies.  Someone will meet us at the airport so we can pass these items along.

During our stay we look forward to visiting the orphanage in person.  We can play with some of the children and get to see an orphanage up close.  Our five-year-old daughter Kaela has lived a very privileged life in the US.  Although my wife came from a very good family of high-level musicians, her early years in China were vastly different from that of our daughter in the US.  Of course the difference between her life in Colorado and the life of a poor Chinese child is even greater.  So, we really want Kaela to have a sense of children in need around the world.  During our visit we hope to find a child that we can sponsor through money, cards, gifts, and prayer.  This will surely be a great blessing for our family and may be a highlight for our trip.
