The Zoo was world class. All the animals seemed very chilled out apart from the polar bears who were maybe an
Anyway a zoo is a zoo. But a Night Safari is a whole other kettle of fish... The place was incredible. I suffered a wee bit at the beginning with my inability to see in the dark, but once the night vision kicked in, it was a whole lot easier to see where I was going! This place was set up to mimic night time conditions. It opened at 7pm so they had a head start with the natural darkness, the important thing is the lighting was set-up as very convincing moonlight! Sorry, now do you see why it was Geek Day? Anyway, you are set off to walk through the trees in the pitch black, very creepy, then you hear a bloody lion roaring just up the path, then the leaves rustle a few yards up and you nearly shit your pants (sorry for the crudeness it's the only real way to explain it). Then you are left feeling silly, because they aren't gonna let the lions roam about, are they? One more thing I dragged Iain through the bat enclosure, he was "not comfortable" and promptly bolted for the door when a rather huge fruit bat took a fancy to his head, they can smell fear you know... We also were entained by the locals fire dance, there is something satisfy about a man setting his head on fire! There aren't many photos from the night safari as it was dark and no flashes were allowed incase you disturbed the animals...
The night was topped off with a nice cold jug of beer, which promptly turned into a luke warm jug of beer, that's Singapore though nothing and nobody is cool only hot!
