and Jimmy Johns for dinner? Don't mind if I do.

The past eight months have been a whirlwind of planning and paperwork for me. I'm about to be out of the country for a little over eight months, and I'm hardly 40 days away from my departure date. This whole trip started out as an idea, but it's a reality now and it's about to get more real January 2nd when I say goodbye to some of my closest friends and family at Charlotte Douglas International and say HELLOOOO to Sergio Ramos in Madrid.......well, maybe I won't get to meet Sergio, but I can dream right? Unless you're Erica Dunham, Lizzy Manieri, or Julie Mansur you really can't imagine all the thoughts, feelings, and emotions I'm going through right now. Every day my countdown of days to departure gets smaller and smaller. The anticipation makes me more excited every minute, but the thought of being surrounded by people I don't know for 8 months is blowing my mind. Am I going to have a good time? Am I going to make friends? Will I like the food and locals (of course I'm concerned about food!)? The answer to all of these questions is YES, but I want to know WHEN and I want to know right NOW! I keep telling people I'm not scared of how long I'm going to be gone or the possibilities I may encounter, but the truth is I am. In fact, the uncertainty is terrifying. The last 7 days of my life have consisted of crafting for my little, baking cupcakes for community service, making a Christmas list for my mom, and it's about to include a delicious meal of a Jimmy John's sandwich for dinner. Compare that to 7 days in Spain....I'm going to be shopping at Zara, buying fresh food for dinner at La Boqueria, watching an FC Barcelona futbol game while LEGALLY drinking una cerveza con una tapa, walking past La Sagrada Familia, and taking a stroll down La Rambla just because I have the option. Are you serious?! Typing that out just made it even more real that THAT is about to be MY life. Not someone elses. MINE! Oh, and since I mentioned my Christmas list, I probably should mention my mom bought me a new Kodak camera and one of those new Flip camcorders. You better believe I will be uploading pictures and videos every single day on here. Well, Jimmy John's should be here any minute. I am so excited for the months to come and I will truly miss a lot of people, BUT I am excited to share all of my crazy "Becca shenanigans" with you all through this blog.

Goodbye, Arrivederci, Hasta Luego.
