San Gil is a lovely little town surrounded by mountains and canyons with rivers flowing through them. It is known as the adventure capital of Colombia with loads of activities avaliable such as rafting, paragliding, rapelling... But it all cost money. In the end we didnīt do many of the organised activities and instead choose to make our own way. We ended up doing a lovely walk between 2 wee villages visiting unique Barichara. And the big 180m Curi Cascades that people rapell down. Freak thunderstorms made life interesting as they knocked trees down over the roads and flooded the streets. One of the nights Toby got the chance to display his football skills in a friendly Gringos vs Colombia football match... Sadly the mighty Gringos went down. Well fought contest though went to the final goal!!
The highlight of our visit was paragliding over the amazing countryside, looking down on all the tobacco, coffee and banana farms and we could see the big Canyon in the distance. It was a great feeling just gliding along in the air but we were a bit disappointed as our guides were shy on the spins and tricks!
