Where I stayed
Cooinda Caravan Park
10th April 2007
Today we headed along the Arnhem Highway to Kakadu. We stopped at the Wetland Visitor Centre for an interesting exhibit, great views and some info on where to go. Unfortunately the main places we were advised to see were closed (Mamukala) or cut off by water (Ubirr). Jabiru is just an area of resorts with a couple of little shops thrown in. We did have a nice visit to Nourlangie Rock. Here are some great examples of rock art as well as lovely view of the rocky area. It is not too strenuous a walk and we stopped at the top for lunch (where Malcolm left his sunnies) and lots of photos. Later I waited at a cool spot near the rock art while Malcolm retrieved his sunnies. We arrived at Cooinda at about 4.00. We were able to pick our spot, went for a swim in the pool and booked a cruise for the next day. There are lots of little green frogs in the showers here and obvious signs of the wild horses on the camp site.
