7th January - Hobart

Another nice day. We left early for the Heritage Highway/Rivers Run trip.  The hills are very dry and brown all through this region.  We stopped at Oatlands, which has some lovely historic buildings including Callington Mill built in 1837.  We saw an echidna crossing the road on the way to Bothwell.  At Bothwell we found St Luke's Uniting Church and the graves of Margaret and John Anderson.  We couldn’t find the grave of Albert Knowles but were directed to the Council office where she confirmed he was buried there in an unmarked grave.  We went back to the grave and put the two soft toys at the grave for Mum.  Next we headed to Mt Field National Park where we saw Russell Falls, Horseshoe Falls and were lucky enough to see a platypus.  It was a lovely walk to the falls with lots of ferns and mossy trees.  There’s an old-fashioned Pizza Hut near our room so we went down for an 'all you can eat’ meal.
