We spent one night in Seattle after another long day of driving, the hotel was pretty much on the freeway off-ramp and had thin windows and was sealed badly, but it was cheap, at least we got some sleep. After walking down to the docks we decided on trying out one of the restaurants, which was very nice, they had a 4 course special with a shrimp starter, then a clam chowder, for mains we had Salmon (Sonja) and Prawns (Steven) and desert was a Crème Brule kind of thing and a Bailey's chocolate moose. The city looks beautiful at night.

The next morning we headed down to Pikes Market where they have the very first Starbucks store and Pikes Place Fish Market, where they throw the fish around. We got some Starbucks coffee mugs, walked around and had brunch at one of the restaurant overlooking the sea. We also went to see what the Space Needle looks like during the day.

In the afternoon we headed out for Vancouver and the border crossing was pretty much a non-event, we didn't even get out of the car. It was like a tollgate, but it took a little longer than just paying tollgate money. Speaking about tollgates, we've travelled 2000km, and without passing through one! Eventually, we have arrived in Vancouver after lots and lots of travelling. We are staying in a really nice 2 bedroom apartment on the 21st floor in downtown Vancouver, a marked difference to the budget places so far.

We did some grocery shopping last night and after finding all the prices astronomical we found the upper lever of the shop. Everything downstairs was organic and expensive while upstairs was normal food at much better prices.

All this travelling takes its toll on the body, just look at poor Dylan at the restaurant in LA before we left.

Today we are going to do some driving around the Vancouver suburbs to get a feel for the city and see what the houses look like.

NEWS
Hi Steve & Sonja

Thanks for the news and pics - its very exciting travelling with you. I loved the fish throwing bit, I bet it smells very fishy in that store. Your apartment is lovely and looks very cosy. It was good chatting to you on skype last night - yesterday was quite an exciting day with Liza & Jeff's news and sharing it with you on skype.

Enjoy Vancouver and hope you are both relaxed at this stage.

Love you
