Where I stayed
Our trip has been good so far, arriving in Bangkok in the afternoon on Monday January 25. The flight via London to Bangkok was good and we both managed to get quite a bit of sleep on the plane (maybe thanks to the fact that we barely slept at all the night before leaving due to a fab nite dancing in Mojo and feeling generally excited about the trip). Only complant with flight was that one of our cabin crew was a very bitter old lady who seemed very annoyed when we wanted our free drinks. But we managed to get our sparkling wine in the end and propose a toast for the lovely months to come!
Arriving in Bangkok was very smooth, and we found a decent taxi from the airport to Kao San Road (and for those of you who have not been to Bangkok before, Kao San Road is where ALL the backpackers stay)
The first few days we have just been chilling, doing some of the must see sightseeing, drinking loads of beer and ice coffee and also planning out the rest of our stay in Thailand. We have also managed to learn to say' hello' (sa wat dii) and 'thank you' (khawp khun - pronounced roughtly as 'kao pun kao') in thai which seems to impress the locals a lot. Our tuk tuk (3 wheel moped taxi) driver yesterday could not get over how good we spoke thai, and kept complementing us the whole ride =)
Sophia has also had an encounter with the thai tailors, wanting to make a fitted leather jacket, and after finally agreeing a price (the greeks are probably the best people in the world when it comes to bargaining price, Emmy definately needs to pick this up too!) it took 3 rounds of fittings to get things the way we asked for. Isn't it lovely service when people go "yeah yeah, we make you look good" and the don't listen to your requirements whatsoever? Well, we got it done in the end!
So all in all, we're having a great time, and tonight we're heading down to Krabi with overnight bus to eventually get to those lovely beaches. Temperatures in Bangkok are around 32 degrees, but we hear it's even nicer down south (yeah, we know you hate us for telling you!).
We miss you all and please comment on the blog entries so that we know who's following our trip!!
