My mom and I decided to forgo visiting the Nazca lines and flew to Puerto Maldonato instead to visit the jungle in two pretty jungle lodges. We spent five days slogging through mud, paddling around on canoe-like boats and getting scared by snakes and spiders as big as plates during night hikes. It was a blast.
Instead of boring you with my bad descriptions of all the animals and plants that we encountered in the jungle I am going to list all the amazing things we saw:
a tick in my belly
butterflys off all colors and sizes (some as big as birds!)
hoatzin
kingfishers
herons- tiger heron
caimen
bats
scorpian spider
tree boa
fireflies
assorted bugs
squirrel monkeys
giant otters
tarantulas
turtles
capybaras
lizards
coral snake
catydids
carnivourous plants
cappicino monkeys
brazil nut trees
cocoa trees
