ARGENTINIAN HOSPITALITY:
i cut my pinkie toe wide open yesterday in this travel agency and it was dripping all over my feet and i had blood all over my hands and they didn't want me to use their bathroom!! the lady wet a cotton ball for me (after i forced her to) and i was like can i please wash my hands though and she was like. ohhhhh. we aren't supposed to let people use it.... and i was like. look you bitch, i just cut my toe open on your stupid chair now let me wash the blood off or i will wipe it on your face!!
ok. not the last part.
she finally let me wash my hands. with no apologies either. fucking Argentineans. lately they ALL SUCK. not the politest of peoples. they are all so impatient with everything. and rude too....
you can tell i have a cultural anthropology degree can't you?
Today we went to the Perito Moreno Glaciar. It is amazing!
It is also the only glacier I have ever seen.
We took a hike up to it and got to view it from the bluffs with just our small group, as well as looking at it from the heavily touristed viewing platforms and taking a short boat ride up close. It was pretty cool to see. It makes lots of noises and bits fall off. We were lucky enough to see a part of the glacier 50 meters (that's 150 feet for you Americans) fall off! The glacier moves 2 meters a day on the base and 10 centimeters a day on the top. It makes so much noise!
When we got back to the hostel our shower drain flooded via the bathroom drain so that the whole room was covered in a half inch of water. Did they care or apologize?
What do you think? It was hard enough to get a damn mop from the people....
Besides the rude people here (so many!!) we are having a really good time and are adapting quite well to eating dinner at 10 or later. I suppose it helps that we sleep all day in the bus and that it stays light until 10:30 ....
Tomorrow we are headed to El Chalten and Fitz Roy!
