After a two hour flight on Czech Air, we landed at Ruszy Airport. Unlike the pleasant weather on Gotland, Central Europe was under the grip of a heatwave that reminded me of Delhi! We quickly beat it to the Europcar so that we could start our Central European roadtrip.

We drove into town and checked into the Hotel Palace Praha and proceded to spend our first couple of days in Praha like many others tourists by walking around the old city and checking out the castle. Its a beautiful old European city, generally untouched by war. Sprinkled around the older buildings and churchs are a handful of Iron Curtain era relics that add to the city's character. But overall we found the heat stiffling and the waves of tourists more so.

It was not long before we were ready to continue the road trip and onwards towards Wien. I wanted to also to see the Bohemian countryside and along the way we took in a well preserved medieval era town by the name of Telc. Frankly, I found it much more enjoyable to drive about the countryside stopping that places that caught your eye rather than pacing about Praha--and there are no speed limits in the Czech Republic's motorways (at least none that I could see).
