Not only do I have to ensure a 9hr wait at Tokyo airport for my flight back to Sydney :/ but they also sent me on a wild goose chase. I bought 2 bottles of special Finnish liqueur for mum & dad at Helsinki Duty Free. The bag was properly sealed, but Japanese airport won't let me have it as carry on luggage because you can only have 100ml bottles. I knew that but thought duty free was excluded. But no! So I spent 2hrs in immigration, customs and had to officially enter the country which means giving them my finger prints & eye scan. Then I had to go through the departure lounge. But when I made it to the next security checkpoint they still said I couldn't bring the bottles as hand luggage. Aarrgghh!! So either I could throw them out or check them in as luggage. I've taken the last option & just hope the bottles don't get broken. But then to frustrate me more, once I passed security at the Departure gate and entered, what was I greeted with? Duty free shops with walls of alcohol. Majorly pissed off at this point, I asked a shop assistant, "I thought you can't bring bottles in hand luggage." Her response, yes I could because I was buying it in Japan. Now if that makes sense to you, please explain it to me.

Even more insult to injury, everywhere I look there are signs saying 'Welcome to Japan'......yeah right!

I know! I also found out I have to do Aussie customs in Sydney, collect my bags & check in for Melbourne. I pray there are no delays that make me miss my flight.
