We woke up quite early to get to the airport. And we decided to try the McDonald's in Greece. I'm glad we did. We have the greatest Frappe in Greece at McDonald's! Imagine you order a cup of coffee, and instead of putting cream, you put Vanilla Sundae into it! Wow, the combination is soo sooo good! We should try it out back home!
Yay.... We are heading to Santorini today! We had to take an expensive flight from Aegean air, although the journey is much shorter than the flight from London to Athens, the price is actually much more expensive! Oh well, we don't have much choice, and I'm not willing to waste our time to go to the port to take a ferry to Santorini. And we get too see this aeriel view of the Santorini Island!
We found this reasonably cheap hotel Bluewaves Hotel by the Kamari beach, which is also the black sand beach. The balcany in our room has a great view to the vast blue sea!
So, first thing we look for while we are in Santorini is our transportation! I thought we could save a little by renting a scooter. So, to make sure I still know how to ride a bike, I gave it a try. I let Ai Ling wait, while I ride for a short distance. It's kinda uncontrollable for me, scary scary. A couple saw the way I ride, and told Ai Ling they don't think it's safe, doh! Ok ok... I must admit I myself don't feel confident of riding around Santorini Island in a bike too...
So, I wasn't able to ride a bike, how about a quad? I wonder...
It turned out, a Quad is even harder to maneuver! It's like driving a car with a bike's handle! I can't make sharp turns, and I don't know how to reverse! I give up....
So, I ended up still getting a car... hahaha. A Smart Car for two. Small and economical. Protected from the cold breeze too! Great! And Ai Ling can be my navigator, and we don't have to shout to talk to each other throughout our journey, good deal good deal.
You probably would have guessed, the first place we went is lunch! We had paella, it was not bad, but I think the ones we had in Spain were nicer.
After that we just drive around the island! Stop by around when we see any nice view for a quick pose.
We also stopped by the red sand beach. Nothing special except the red sand...
On our way, we saw a herd of goat too. In order for the goat not to run too fast and too far away, two of their legs were always tied to gether! Poor them...
These churches style are unique to Santorini, some of them come with bells, some doesn't. Too bad the ropes aren't accessible. Otherwise, maybe I could have a go at the bells myself :p
We were lucky in a way that the rain never really came, just the dark clouds. The clouds just came and went.
We had a sumptuous dinner that night, with a little bottle of Rosť, and we are out for the night.
