We reached Jodhpur early morning and checked in our hotel. After a quick breakfast we left for sightseeing the place. We hired an autorickshaw for Rs350 for the entire day. Our first place of visit was Umaid Bhawan Palace, a massive modern palacial complex which is now a heritage hotel. Only a part of this palace is open to the visitors. The things that you must see here includes the collection of clocks, glass utensils and artifacts.

Jodhpur is one of the most cleanest cities that I have ever seen, also it is well planned. We now destined for the Fort of Meherangarh. This fortress atop a hillock has remained invincible over ages. This is also one of the strongest forts of India. We saw the cannon ball marks on the fort wall that reminds of the attack of Jaipur army over Jodhpur. It has a number of gates before you can enter the fort and the entrance is a steep climb. You will find intricate decorations on the arched windows of the buildings inside the fort walls that are unique to Jodhpur. The main attractions of the place includes the collection of palanquins, the grand ball room, the Durbar Hall with gold ceiling and the exquisite view of the city that is often called Blue City owing to the blue colored walls of the houses. Notice the large collection of cannons placed at strategic positions of the fort which still stands for its defense. Not to miss are the fingerprints of those who commited sati.

Not far off from the Fort is the royal cenotaph of Late Maharaja Jaswant SinghJi, known as Jaswant Thada. This grand marble architecture is worth visiting while you ar in Jodhpur. We left late afternoon for our last destination for the day - Mandore gardens. This place is almost like in ruins but has a nice collection of old temples built early period. The intricate sculptures are comparable to those of Mt. Abu, only difference being that these are sandstone structures.

We did some shopping on our way to the hotel - Jodhpur's special saris Bandhanis and hand embroidaries.
