Traffic to the airport is heavy but moving. We make the two hour pre-flight check-in. You never know when some guy with a nail clipper is going to evade TSA screeners; requiring evacuation & re-sceening of all international terminal passengers. After rushing all day the phrase "hurry up and wait" now rings loudly in my mind.

If I'm travelling for work I couldn't care less how much time I log in the terminal. It beats being at a desk. But when I'm on vacation time, I'm a little less happy to be sitting in the world's least comfortable chairs.

9:00PM(ish)
We board our flight to... Miami. When you book late and want to pay bottom dollar for your air-miles, sometimes you take less than the most direct route. I have no idea how the economics of this works to the advantage of the airline. Flying what is easily twice the distance of the most direct route costs the airline more, yet they charge less. Less than direct flights are also a vacation time thief. Normally this would annoy me, but I'm getting easily twice the miles of the most direct route for half the cost of the direct route. Bringing me that much closer to my next frequent flyer reward.
