The classy dinner night at Galata Tower included the following:
20.00 - 21.00 : Dinner Service
21.00 - 21.30 : Band begins to play
21.30 - 21.45 : Folk Dances
21.50 - 22.20 : Harem Show
22.20 - 22.35 : Caucasus Folk Dances
22.35 - 22.50 : 2. Belly dancer
22.50 - 23.50 : Showmen Chanteure
23.50 : Dance Music
The 6 of us dressed up in black and white and took TWO cabs there (we usually Mexi-pack it). Very classy. We surfed the crowd of people at the top of Galata Tower and attempted to take sunset pictures. Then we were seated at the table right next to the show platform. The waiter asked us where we were from because they place the guests' national flags at each table. We said Korea, Greece, and U.S.A. We asked for the Turkish flag because nothing is complete in Turkey without the Turkish flag. The waiter brought out a Japanese flag instead of the Korean one!!! Whatever, I just had to pretend like I was Japanese for the rest of the night. It was alright until the entertainer started singing pop songs from different countries. There were people from Romania, Mexico, France, U.S.A., South Africa, England, Yemen, Ukraine, Turkey.... He knew ALL of the languages and songs- crazy! He started singing a Japanese pop song and pushed the microphone into my face, expecting me to sing the song! I was like, no, no, no, and he asked, Are you suree you're Japanese? The belly dancers and folk dancers were great. The food and wine and raki were great. The shows were very interactive, and we got pulled up to the stage several times. Totally worth the splurge!
