I had dinner with 3 Turkish guys from my university who are interning in Istanbul for the summer.  Why we have not met up earlier, I do not know, but it definitely seems like we have a giant gap in our social and daily lives anyway.  I told them that I am done with touristy things and that I want to do something normal, like shopping.  So we met up at The Kanyon, only 2 train stops north of Cevahir.  This mall is SO MUCH BETTER than Cevahir.  If you want a nice atmosphere and European/American stores, go here.  It has a very modern and unique architecture and a crescent moon shaped dome covering the mall, leaving the mall partially outdoors.  People were more stylish and less creepy than central Istanbul for sure.  The employees at the stores did not harrass you either.  Spacious and nice restaurants lined up at the top, and we chose to go to an Italian place called Midpoint, where I had BC Fredo.  Yum!  Then we proceeded to shop.

It has been sprinkling in the past 2 days, so the nights have been somewhat chilly.  I did not bring anything long or warm other than my Northface windbreaker and one pair of jeans!  After coming back to the dorm, my friends and I just hung out under the bridge for a while... We called up our pseudo-Turkish friend (whom I had originally blacklisted but took off for the night because we needed some fresh face in the group).  While everyone went to the restroom, he confessed to me that he really loves my roommate and would marry her if she were not leaving in 15 days.  I told you he was blacklisted!  With my stellar bargaining skills, I got 50cc Efes down from 6 ytl to 3 ytl.  But of course, when food or drinks are too cheap, it makes you wonder...
