Oh. My. Gosh.

I'm having the time of my life in Egypt.

So after 4 truly amazing days in Cairo, I sadly departed as said in the previous entry.  I arrived in Aswan around  12:30pm, probably the hottest time of the day.  I am staying in a double room at a hotel a block away from the museum.  The hotel served a complimentary hibiscus tea, of which I am a HUGe fan.  My guide and I did a run-down of my activities in Aswan.  The group changes a little bit for each activity since everyone has their own itinerary, but in general you are with the same 5-6 people.

Today was High Dam, Phillae Temple, and (optional) Nubian village.  I was not going to do the Nubian village and instead go to the Nubian Museum, but Anne, a French journalist that I befriended on the train, convinced me to go with her.  And oh my gosh, it was SO FUN.  High Dam was alright... not really picturesque but an important landmark/transition for the area and the rest of the Nile.  the temple would have been more impressive with a better weather and a guide who I can actually understand. On the boat back, I was exhausted and wanted to back out of the Nubian village.  But as soon as we came back to the hotel, we had to take off for the village!  I thought we were going to walk through a little village and watch people feed donkeys and make pottery.  But no!  We took a really relaxing boat ride to the island, passing by cool things like the hotel where the couple in Agatha Christie's Death on the Nile stayed ($1,000 per night!).  Once in the village, we visited Baba Dool's house (he's as awesome as his name) and it was one big party.  I gotta wake up at 2:40am to head to Abu Simbel, soo see pictures.
