Hi everyone!

After acing final exams and moving out of the dorm, I came down to Atlanta to hang out at home before flying out on Thursday.  As a Psychology and Linguistics double major and an avid traveler, I wanted to go abroad to a unique and relatively inexpensive place where I can explore languages and customs very foreign to me.  I chose to study abroad in Istanbul this summer, which opened up innumerable travel opportunities before, during and after the program.

I was originally planning to go to Greece beforehand and make my way down to Egypt after the program.  It turns out that my friend in Egypt is going back to the states the day before the end of my program.  No problem, I decided to simply reverse the route:  Egypt first, then Istanbul, then trekking up north.

Here is my itinerary:
-Atlanta (home!) for 1 week
-Amsterdam for 1 day
-Egypt for 2 weeks
-Istanbul for 6 weeks (side trips to 4 other cities in Turkey)
-Eastern Europe for 3 week (Bulgaria, Romania, Hungary, Austria, Czech Republic, Germany)
-Back in Atlanta for 2 weeks
Total: 14 weeks

In this blog I will share my experience, adventures, mischievousness and mishaps.  Travelpod has a lot of neat features.  I am particularly fond of the map, which is a must for the geographically challenged like me.  You can also subscribe to this blog by clicking on the link in the left margin.

With less than 3 days to go, I am oscillating between enthusiasm and panic.  Whether I will be a good ol' tourist or a grungy backpacker, we shall see!
