After another horrible overnight bus ride, we arrived really early in Nha Trang and took a stroll around town. Nha Trang is a much bigger city than Mui Ne, filled with tons of same little shops, hotels and restaurants. I think that is the theme to all cities in Vietnam. We went to a pretty cool but very ghetto Oceanography museum that had a library of marine creatures in little jars... pretty gross actually.
Most of our Nha Trang trip was spent underwater, completing our scuba diving certification. The conditions were pretty bad, only 2-3 m visibility underwater, but since it was our first time, we all thought it was awesome and saw some pretty cool fish. I also gave Bower and my instructor a heart attack by mistakingly putting air in my buoyancy control vest (instead of taking air out) and I shot up to the surface... By the time I realized what I was doing, I was in the middle of nowhere and could only see green all around, pretty scary. It wasn't cool for Bower and the instructor either, one second I was giving Bower the "ok" sign and then the next time he turned around I was gone. Good thing I didn't get penalized for that! Three of us passed with flying colors ( I won't tell you which 3) and we can now go scuba diving whenever we want!
Our instructors were pretty cool and we had some good times with them playing good old Jenga and Connect 4 at one of the local bars.
