Hi everyone,

Well, The trail is the thing (T3) has finally arrived!  We leave tomorrow for a few months in Trinidad, Tobago and Turkey.  We will go to and from Istanbul via London and we are anxiously looking forward to Spitalfields and a proper pint.

Before we hit the trail we want to thank everyone who has helped with our planning this time.  So here goes...

Thanks to the people in the Myer, couchsurfing and mytobago communities for all the great information. What a great help they have been.  (Far too many names to print but you know who you are...)
Thanks to Perry and Mylene who will be the primary caregivers to our old house while we are away, and to David who will help out as well
Thanks to everyone for all the wonderful bon voyage wishes, in particular, Jocelyn and Carol P for the notes and Roberta and Bruce, Traci and Rio, Cros and Vanna, Ed, and mum for the thoughtful calls.
Thanks to Judy for the inaugural libations!
Thanks to Laur and Mike for driving us to the airport and to Jamie for picking us up.
And to everyone else for all your good thoughts.  We are happiest when we are travelling and our family and friends have been simply the best in helping to make our travel dreams come true!

In the morning we fly to Atlanta and then on to Port of Spain.  We arrive in Trinidad at the height of Carnival.  (Think a Caribbean Rio!)  After a night in the airport (ugh), we fly to Crown Point where we will be thrilled to begin our adventures on Tobago.  We hope they will be filled with snorkelling, trekking and sailing.  We have rented a small bungalow on the north end of the island (about ninety minutes from the airport) so Paul will quickly have to get used to driving on the other side of the road. We have also chartered a boat for some sailing in the nearby cays. We are looking forward to getting fresh fish from the fishermens co-op nearby and fresh fruit from the trees in our little backyard. We have even been told that we will likely meet up with some Carnival devils near Speyside on our drive to Charlotteville!  What a fascinating start to our time on Tobago!

Thanks again to everyone.  Good luck to you all with your Superbowl picks.

We don't know if our posts will be as frequent as they were in S.E. Asia or C. America but we will try to post a few things right here from time to time.  Happy Trails,

Kate and Paul
